Polyvinyl alcohol

Polyvinyl alcohol is used as pure glue, but can also be used as a thickener in wall paints, paper coatings, and all kinds of other water-based liquids. Polyvinyl alcohol forms a very good adhesive film and is well soluble in water, the adhesion properties are basically good, depending on the bonding process and the materials. It is resistant to many oils, fats and solvents.

PVOH is also used as an additive or modifier in polyvinyl acetate-based adhesives, emulsions and dispersions.

Polyvinyl alcohol in polyvinyl acetate based adhesives

Polyvinyl alcohols also used as modifiers for polyvinyl acetate emulsion adhesives.Polyvinyl alcohol adheres very well to cellulose substrates such as paper and wood. PVOH can increase both the tensile strength of the product and the efficiency in your production.

PVOH value - hydrolysis number

PVOH molecular weight and hydrolysis value usually have a major influence on the final properties of the binders. The  In emulsion polymers, molecular weight has an effect on viscosity, shear value, adhesion and wet adhesion. The different levels of hydrolysis affect the stability, water resistance and adhesive film properties

Many of these PVOH products are used in textiles, adhesives, paper, construction products and packaging applications.
